UNFOLDING | DEUTSCHLANDPREMIERE | 20 August//19h

KONZEPT/PERFORMANCE: Sofia Dias, Vítor Roriz PRODUKTION: O Espaço do Tempo (Montemor-o-Novo) GASTSPIEL IN ZUSAMMENARBEIT MIT: HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN.

"Do you feel this? Do you feel it? Do you?
– Yeah...
It’s funny, isn’t it?
It’s like entering in the void.
I don’t recognize it.
It’s as if you had to wait for something, but you don’t know what it is. There is all these people and an empty space…it’s almost…upsetting…
– Not knowing what to expect…
– I mean, there’s nothing to expect…so, I guess that’s one thing.
– And also, if nothing happens...nothing happens.
(...)"

" Most human beings, (...) complain about the meanness of nature, because we are born for a brief span of life, and because this spell of time that has been given to us rushes by so swiftly and rapidly that with very few exceptions life ceases for the rest of us just when we are getting ready for it.
(...)
It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements. But when it is wasted in heedless luxury
and spent on no good activity, we are forced at last by death’s final constraint to realise that it has passed away before we knew it was passing (...)

(...) It is a small part of life we really live, all the rest is not life, but merelly time."

Seneca (4 BC-AD 65), On the shortness of life

acerca de | about UNFOLDING

(ENG) Unfolding is the action of disclosing, of revealing something gradually. To this action is associated an expectation before the mystery of the body/object to reveal. The moment in which we almost recognize the object but ignore the memory, as an attempt to postpone revelation and prolong expectation.
Unfolding is the space between potency and illusion, where thought wanders until the moment reason identifies the object and focuses on the concrete. The body, in its imminence of revelation assumes the dimension of our imaginary and metamorphoses itself.
